Get our ranking of popular keto and low carb chips that you can buy and are all 8 grams or less of net carbs per serving!

After reviewing low-carb and keto crackers, we've moved onto keto and low-carb chips! Over the past few years, there has been a minor explosion in various types of low-carb and keto chips on the market. There are keto tortilla-style chips, cheese crisps, pork rinds, low-carb potato-style chips and more. When doing this review, we had a hard time determining what even constitutes a chip!
Although there are several tasty low-carb and keto "chips" out there, we found that many aren't there yet when it comes to taste (be aware that most do not taste like regular, full-carb chips). Therefore, when purchasing, you need to determine what you’re willing to compromise on when it comes to taste, ingredients, and cost (and many are costly!).
For this review, we tested more than 10 different brands of keto-friendly and low-carb chips (note: not all made this review). Here is our ranking of popular low-carb and keto chips that are 8 grams or less of net carbs per serving. We hope this information helps you in your quest to find tasty keto-friendly and low-carb chips!

1. TIE: Quest Tortilla Protein Chips & Hilo Life Tortilla-Style Chips
In terms of low-carb and keto-friendly chips, Quest and Hilo Life are two of the best tasting chips on the market right now. They offer similar tortilla-style chips in terms of taste and texture, although there are noted differences between each (see below). Both are fashioned after Doritos and come in similar flavors (nacho cheese, ranch, etc.). Neither of them taste like regular Doritos (as you might expect given the low-carb ingredients), but they came the closest out of all the products we tested. The nacho cheese flavor is good in both brands, but the texture is somewhat different in each. Many grocers sell both of these brands, so they're somewhat easy to find (and, of course, you can always purchase them on Amazon). However, each brand has their own pros and cons, so it really depends on what you prefer in a chip. Here is a brief summary of each.

Hilo Life Tortilla Style Chips (Nacho Cheese): Hilo Life makes keto-friendly almond flour tortilla chips that are 3 net carbs per serving. The chips come in a variety of flavors including ranch, spicy salsa and nacho cheese. We find the texture of Hilo Life chips a little better than Quest chips. On the first bite, the chips are crispy-crunchy (more than Quest chips), but since they're made with almond flour, they end with a grainy and softer texture. We like the spicy salsa and nacho cheese flavors and think the flavor of the chips is on par with Quest chips (although some Amazon customers report the contrary). One serving-size bag is only 150 calories, 3 net carbs and 9 grams of protein. In comparison, a serving-size bag of Quest Nacho Cheese Chips has 140 calories, 4 net carbs and 18 grams of protein. The ingredients are decent and the cost of a 1-ounce bag is a little less than $2.

Quest Tortilla Protein Chips (Nacho Cheese): Quest chips offer the best of both worlds if you're looking for something low in carbs and high in protein. These chips have double the protein of Hilo Life chips (a total of 18 grams per serving) and may be more satiating for that reason. As mentioned, the flavor of these chips are tasty (we think they're on par with Hilo Life chips), and the nacho cheese flavor is our favorite. In terms of texture, the chips are crispy to start (although not quite as crispy as Hilo Life chips), but end with a grainy or even powdery texture (likely due to protein content). We did not find the ending texture off-putting, but saw that some Amazon customers were quite bothered by it. The chips are lighter and easier to break than Hilo chips, so you need to be careful when dipping in salsa or dip. The ingredients are decent and the cost is a little over $2 for a 1-ounce bag.
2. Pork Rinds

Pork rinds have been on the market for a while now and are a tasty zero-carb chip-like option when you're looking for something crunchy and salty. Pork rinds are made of pig skin, which is boiled, dried, and deep fried. They're crispy, puff-like chips that are salty and somewhat meaty in flavor. Most brands of pork rinds offer a range of flavors like chili, cheese, and more. They're a popular keto snack since they contain zero carbs and some brands are high in protein (though technically this protein is “incomplete” since it lacks some essential amino acids).
Our pick: We've tried many brands of pork rinds over the years, and our favorite is easily 4505 Chicharrones Pork Rinds. We enjoy the flavors and love that you can buy them at most grocers. We prefer the texture, too, which seems lighter and airier than other brands. The 4505 brand is keto certified and uses humanely-raised, all-natural pork with no added hormones or antibiotics. In addition, they do not use any artificial seasonings and fry the pork in pork renderings instead of oil. Our favorite flavor is the Jalapeno Cheddar, which is slightly spicy with a subtle cheddar flavor. That said, most of their other flavors are pretty good.
Ingredients for the 4505 Jalapeno Cheddar Chicharrones include fried pork skin, cheddar cheese powder, salt, jalapeno powder, organic sugar (amount of sugar is less than ⅛ teaspoon per bag), rendered pork fat. The cost is roughly $4 for a 2.5-ounce bag.
3. Cheese Crisps

If you love cheese, then cheese crisps may be an ideal low-carb snack for you. That’s because cheese crisps are simply made with cheese that is is baked until light and crispy. Even when flavored with various seasonings, cheese crisps have a very strong cheese flavor, whether it's parmesan, cheddar or another type of cheese (which may be a turn-off for some people). Cheese crisps typically have between zero to two carbs per serving, depending on the cheese, flavoring or brand.
Two of the most popular cheese crisps on the market are Whisps and Parm Crisps.
In terms of flavor and texture, we prefer Whisps. It's because they're lighter and more airy in texture than Parm Crisps. We also slightly prefer the flavors of Whisps over Parm Crisps (our favorite flavor is Asiago & Pepper Jack).
That said, if you're looking for more protein in a snack, then you might want to go with Parm Crisps since they have 9 grams of protein per serving (versus 0 grams in Whisps) and the flavor and texture are still pretty good. You really can't go wrong with either brand.
4. Wilde Chicken Chips

Of all the low-carb chips we tried, Wilde chicken chips were the most similar to potato-style chips. They're thin, crispy chips with a texture similar to oven-baked potato chips. Since they're made with chicken, they do have a chickenish flavor and are quite salty and somewhat oily.
They're made with all-natural chicken breast, cassava root flour, coconut nectar and a few other ingredients. Because the second ingredient is tapioca starch, these chips are higher in carbs at 8 grams of net carbs per serving. Therefore, if you're on a keto diet, you may want to skip these. However, they are higher in protein, at 10 grams of protein per serving, which makes them a little more filling than other lower-in-protein chips.
Overall, they're pretty decent if you're looking for a low-carb, potato-style chip. They get 4 out of 5 stars on Amazon. Flavors include Himalayan Pink Salt, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Buffalo and Chicken & Waffles. The cost of a 2.25-ounce bag is roughly $8 on Amazon.
5. Quevos Egg White Chips

Quevos egg-white chips are crispy, cracker-like crisps, which come in a variety of flavors. The first ingredient in Quevos is egg whites, and the chips have 4 net carbs per serving and 8 grams of protein per bag. In our review, we were most impressed by the flavor of the crisps. Quevos gets the flavor just right on many of the flavors like sour cream & onion and dill pickle. The texture, however, is not like a regular chip. The crisps start with a nice, crispy crunch, but end with a grainy, powdery-like texture similar to a cracker made with almond flour.
Ingredients include egg whites, milk protein isolate, high oleic sun flower oil (author note: this is a much friendly type of sun flower oil that is high in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats), seasoning blend, coconut oil, cassava flour, and more. Most of these ingredients are keto friendly outside of the cassava flour. But, since it's lower in the list of ingredients, we still consider these somewhat keto-friendly. Please note the ingredients differ on each flavor and some flavors have less keto-friendly ingredients than others. The chips get 3.8 stars out of 5 on Amazon. A pack of 5 bags is $15 on Amazon, which equates to roughly $3 for a 1-ounce bag. Flavors include sour cream and onion, dill pickle, honey mustard, cheddar and mesquite barbecue.
6. BeyondChipz Low Carb Keto Tortilla Chips

BeyondChipz are keto-friendly, tortilla-style chips have 2 grams of net carbs per serving and 13 grams of plant-based protein (pea protein). Unfortunately, the texture of these is not as crispy as Hilo Life or Quest tortilla style chips. They are thicker chips, which start crunchy, but end on a grainy and cracker-like note (similar to other chips on this list). We didn't like the flavor of these chips as much as Quest or Hilo Life chips since they were either bland or off in taste.
The ingredients include pea protein, coconut flour, flax seed, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed, chia seed, cassava flour, sunflower oil, toasted sesame oil, black pepper, etc. There are some not-so-friendly keto ingredients like cassava flour and sunflower oil, but they are lower in the list of ingredients. The cost is $7 to $8 per 5.3-ounce bag on Amazon. If you order on Amazon and decide that you don't like the chips, BeyondChipz will refund your order up to 4 bags.
7. Schoolyard Snacks Keto Cheese Puffs

Schoolyard snacks make a keto version of cheese puffs, which are 4 grams of net carbs per serving. We were hoping to like these more than we did and found the texture and flavor a little off-putting. The texture is much tougher than your typical puffs, and the puffs finish with a grainy-like texture. The flavors, which include cheddar and sour cream & onion, are somewhat bland. That said, the puffs are high in protein at 14 grams per serving. The chips get 3.8 stars out of 5 on Amazon and cost roughly $3 per one-once bag.
8. Real Ketones Keto Protein Chips

Real Ketones makes tortilla-style chips that are 1 net carb per serving and 6 grams of protein. Unfortunately, we had a hard time with the flavor and texture of these chips. The nacho cheese flavor is a little off, while the texture is similar to puff-style tortilla chips (which I don't think we've ever had before). The chips start with a crunchy texture, but end on a gritty note. That said, there are some favorable reviews on Amazon and the chips get 3.8 stars out of 5.
In terms of ingredients, the top two ingredients include a protein blend (soy protein concentrate, sodium caseinate, whey protein concentrate) and medium chain triglycerides (MCT-C8). However, after that, there are a few not-so-friendly ket ingredients like tapioca starch, potato starch and dehydrated potato. Each 1-ounce bag is roughly $3 on Amazon.
9. Genius Gourmet Protein Keto Chips

Genius Gourmet Protein Chips are low-carb, tortilla-style chips that have 2 grams of net carbs and 8 grams of protein per serving. We also had a hard time with the flavor and texture of these chips. Much like Real Ketones Protein Chips, the flavor of these chips is off, and the texture is similar to puff-style tortilla chips, except harder and crunchier. The chips also end with a grainy and dry texture. That said, there are some favorable reviews on Amazon and the chips get 4 stars out of 5 on Amazon.
The top two ingredients include medium chain triglycerides and a protein blend (soy protein concentrate and sodium caseinate). However, there are a few ingredients which aren't keto-friendly like tapioca starch (3rd ingredient) and potato starch. A 1-ounce bag is roughly $3 on Amazon.
**Honorable Mention: Catalina Crunch Mix Keto Healthy Snack Mix

Although snack mixes, like Chex Mix, aren't considered chips, they are a close relative in the chip aisle (which is why we're including it as an honorable mention here). And if you love Chex Mix, then you'll likely enjoy the taste of Catalina Crunch's low-carb and keto-friendly snack mix, which comes in a variety of flavors (like cheddar, creamy ranch, traditional and spicy kick). The mixes are made with a combination of nuts, chickpea pretzels and Catalina Crunch Cereal. Each serving is 5 grams of net carbs and contains up to 8 grams of protein, depending on the flavor.
Our favorite flavor is cheddar, followed by the creamy ranch, traditional and spicy kick (which is quite spicy). The cheddar flavor is similar to the cheddar flavor in Chex Mix and has a similar level of crunch. We found that some customers on Amazon weren't happy with the distribution of the mix — there were either not enough pretzels, too much Catalina Crunch, or too many nuts. That may be true, but it didn't bother us too much. The ingredients do include some not-so-friendly keto ingredients like tapioca starch, potato fiber, chickpea flour, etc. If you're following a strict keto diet, then you may want to pass up. The mix gets 4.4 stars out of 5 on Amazon. A pack of 4 on Amazon costs $36, which is roughly $9 per 6-ounce bag.
