See our review of the most popular low-carb and keto hot dog buns that you can buy at the store or online!

Buying low-carb and keto-friendly hot dog buns can be tricky. Sure, you can find low-carb and keto-friendly hot dog buns at the store or online (which is exciting) but, unfortunately, most of the hot dog buns aren't there yet in terms of taste and ingredients. Because of this, we're sticking with no-bun hot dogs or romaine lettuce buns until better options come to market.

Review and Ranking of Low Carb Hot Dog Buns
Here is our review of low-carb and keto hot dog buns based on taste and ingredients. This review and ranking includes personal opinions, so please take them with a grain of salt. We'd love to hear your feedback on low-carb hot dog buns in the comments below.
1. Carbonaut White Hot Dog Buns

Carboanaut is one of the few hot dog buns with clean, keto-friendly ingredients. That said, these buns do not taste similar to regular hot buns. Rather, they taste somewhat sour and flavorless and are dry in texture. They're also a little smaller than regular hot dog buns. But, they certainly look and feel like regular hot dog buns. If you don't mind the strange taste that sometimes comes with keto or low-carb breads, then you may not mind these buns. We weren't able to find these on Amazon at the time of purchase and bought a pack from netrition.com for $7 (6 buns).

2. Kroger Carbmaster White Hot Dog Buns

Kroger makes Carbmaster hot dog buns, which are higher in carbs than a few other buns on this list and may be more appropriate for a low-carb diet. Each bun is 4 net carbs and the top ingredient in these buns is modified wheat starch (which may not fit strict keto diets).
However, if you don't mind the higher carbs (and simply follow a low-carb diet), these are the best tasting buns on this list. That's because they taste like regular, wheat hot dog buns. They're also soft in texture and similar in size to that of a regular hot dog bun.

3. Great Low Carb Bread Co. Hot Dog Buns

Great Low Carb Bread Co. Hot Dog Buns do not resemble regular hot dog buns in terms of taste and texture. However, we didn't mind the flavor too much, which is similar to chewy, sourdough dinner rolls. The buns are a tougher in texture and smaller in size than regular hot dog buns. The ingredients include modified wheat starch, which is not keto-friendly and may impact blood glucose levels. If you follow a strict keto diet, then you may want to pass these up.

4. Thin Slim Foods Hot Dog Buns

Thin Slim Foods Hot Dog Buns are another hot dog bun that tastes similar to chewy, sourdough dinner rolls. They're thinner in size (similar to a breadstick) and are tougher and chewier in texture. Like many other hot dog buns on this list, the ingredients include modified wheat starch, which may not fit strict keto diets. However, the buns are lower in net carbs.

Oroweat Keto Hot Dog Buns are another big name breadmaker that sells low-carb hot dog buns at many grocers. These buns are higher in carbs than other buns and, like many other brands on this list, the ingredients aren't entirely keto-friendly (modified wheat start is a top ingredient). The buns have a strange sour taste like several other buns on this list, but at least they have a soft, decent texture. The price per pack is decent, too.

Ingredients: water, modified wheat starch, wheat protein isolate, sunflower flour, soluble corn fiber, yeast, vegetable oil (soybean), oat fiber, inulin (chickory root fiber), salt, mono- and diglycerides, preservatives (calcium propionate, sorbic acid), soy lecithin, citric acid, guar gum, xantham gum, sesame seeds.

Howdy! Do you use Twitter? I'd like to follow you if that
would be ok. I'm definitely enjoying your blog and look forward to new posts.
Thanks! We do use Twitter though we do post there less frequently than our other social media channels. Our twitter handle is @lowcarbsimplify because "@lowcarbsimplified" is too many characters for a twitter username. Would appreciate the follow and say hi!
Appreciate the reviews. I learned early on to not trust everything that says low carb or Lego friendly. Your reviews proved that and gave me another tool in the arsenal!
Yeah, I remember when we bought keto bread a few years ago and blood sugars shot up after eating. Learned that not all
"keto-friendly" breads are truly keto friendly!
Thanks for this review. Because sampling them ourselves is expensive, you have saved us not only time, but $$ too.
