This protein cookies & cream shake is made with low-sugar "Oreos" and cottage cheese to produce a deliciously creamy and filling shake.
Since we love everything cookies and cream, we had to create this healthier, high-protein "Oreo" shake. It's perfect for when you're craving something sweet and to keep you going between meals (or even as a morning drink!). Plus, it's low in carbs and keto-friendly.
To make this shake creamy and high in protein, we use full-fat cottage cheese as a base. And since cottage cheese is high in protein, you don't need to add protein powder (of course you can add protein powder if you like!). Other ingredients include unsweetened almond milk, low-sugar sandwich cookies, monkfruit sweetener and ice.
For a low-sugar Oreo-type cookie, we recommend Catalina Crunch Chocolate Vanilla Sandwich Cookies and Rip Van LEOs Cookies and Cream Sandwich Cookies. They're both tasty options that taste similar to Oreo Cookies and are low in carbs and keto-friendly.
This protein "Oreo" shake is easy to make since you simply combine and blend the ingredients in a blender. It takes just 5 minutes to make!
Full-fat (4%), small-curd cottage cheese: Cottage cheese is what makes this shake high in protein. We use full-fat (4% milk fat) cottage cheese since it makes a creamier shake. Plus, a lower-in-fat cottage cheese doesn't increase the protein percentage by that much.
Unsweetened almond milk: We use unsweetened vanilla-flavored almond milk instead of regular milk since it's low in carbs and low in calories. However, you may substitute it with another type of low-carb milk like unsweetened macadamia milk.
Ice: Ice thickens the shake, and we use one cup, which is about 8 refrigerator-made ice cubes.
Powdered, sugar-free sweetener: We sweeten the shake with powdered Lakanto monkfruit sweetener. However, you can sweeten with another sweetener of preference. Just be sure to check a sweetener conversion chart.
Vanilla extract: Vanilla extract is used to enhance the vanilla-flavored shake base.
How to Make
STEP 1: Combine the cottage cheese, ice, almond milk, sweetener, and vanilla extract in a blender. Blend on high until well blended.
STEP 2: Add low-sugar Oreo-style cookies and briefly blend until just combined. Pour into large glass and serve immediately.

What is Considered High in Protein?
We love high-protein snacks since they help keep you full for longer periods of time. Therefore, you’re less likely to overeat. Wikipedia defines a high-protein diet as more than 20% of calories from protein while Diet Doctor uses 25% go 35% of calories. For more information about a high-protein diet, check out Diet Doctor.
