We taste-tested four low-carb, high-protein bagels to find out which ones taste best and offer the strongest macros.

If you’ve ever hunted for a good low-carb, high-protein bagel, you know that some are fairly tasty, while others not so much. We recently tested four of the most popular low-carb protein bagels to see which ones are actually worth buying.
All four are low in net carbs, high in fiber, and packed with protein, but the flavor and texture vary a lot. Here’s how each bagel ranked in our taste test from best to worst, and how each one stacked up in terms of taste, texture, macros, and overall eating experience.
Our Low-Carb Protein Bagel Taste Test Results
1. Hero Bread Bagels — Our Favorite

Macros (per bagel): 130 calories, 21g fiber, 19g protein, 4g net carbs
Availability: Widely available at many grocery stores
Hero’s bagels won first place since their soft, light, and almost have that “real bagel” feel. They’re more light and airy than the others and toast nicely with a crispy outside with a chewy inside. Although the flavor is fairly plain, they're pretty tasty when topped with peanut butter, cream cheese or other toppings. Plus, many stores now carry them.

2. ROYO Bread Co. Bagels

Macros (per bagel): 80 calories, 32g fiber, 10g protein, 6g net carbs
Availability: Whole Foods and Amazon
Royo bagels are larger and denser than Hero, but the texture is still satisfying if you prefer a heartier bagel. Even though the flavor is a little bland, they're still pretty tasty. We get the Everything Bagel flavor and have no problem eating them up. They're great for those looking for low calories without sacrificing too much on taste. It's best to store them in freezer to prevent them from going bad.
3. SOLA Bagels

Macros (per bagel): 140 calories, 24g fiber, 16g protein, 5g net carbs
Availability: Whole Foods and Amazon
Sola bagels have a noticeably yeasty flavor and are heavier and denser. But, if you like denser bagels, then you might like their texture. However, the texture and flavor just weren’t as standout as Hero or Royo. That said, they’re low in carbs, high in protein, and deliver good fiber. Still, they’re a dependable low-carb option.
4. ThinSlim Foods Keto Bagels — Least Favorite

Macros (per bagel):90 calories,14g fiber, 14g protein, 0g net carbs
Availability: Amazon
These came in last due to their heavy, doughy texture and fairly bland flavor. While the seasoning on the Everything version is decent, the actual bagel doesn’t quite mimic the chew or flavor of a traditional bagel. Still, if strict keto or zero-net-carb products are a priority, then they may fit your needs better.
