Best low carb bread: Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran and Whole Wheat Flour Pita!

WINNER of Best Low Carb Bread: Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran and Whole Wheat MINI Pita Bread

No need to make low-carb bread with these delicious low-carb pitas! We love these mini low-carb pitas since they’re pretty darn tasty and can be used to create so many yummy low-carb dishes. In fact, these pitas are the only type of low-carb bread we purchase. You can stuff the pitas with eggs and avocado slices for breakfast, or with meat, cheese and veggies for lunch, and even turn them into yummy little pita pizzas as a snack. We’ve also made pita chips with them and use them like chapati when eating Indian food. They’re so convenient!

Here are all the reasons we love them:

    • Great taste (you wouldn’t even guess they’re low carb)
    • Light and thin
    • Just 5 net carbs (7 total carbs and 2 grams of dietary fiber)
    • High in protein (5 grams per serving)
    • Extremely useful in creating take-and-go meals and snacks

Since the pitas are thinner, you need to be careful as they tend to tear easily. Therefore, you can’t stuff the pitas with too much or they might break apart. Some people also report that the pitas taste a little dry. We don’t think they taste drier than any other type of pita bread. Unfortunately, the ingredients include soybean oil, but the amount is fairly minimal (less than 2 percent) so we’re continuing to keep them on our recommendation list. Lastly, the pitas are little pricey, but we think they’re worth the cost if you use in moderation.

We haven’t yet seen Joseph’s low-carb pitas in stores where we live (Washington state), but we’ve heard that, depending on where you live, some grocers do carry them including Walmart. You can order from several online sources including Walmart, Amazon or directly from Joseph’s Bakery.
